Allison Norris Ashurst grew up in Montgomery, AL and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Birmingham-Southern College in 2002. In 2004, She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Masters in Art Education.
Allison creates paintings and drawings of a variety of subjects, yet still-lifes and landscapes are prevalent in her works. Her style is quite distinctive, with vivid and smooth brushstrokes and a palette rich in color. Her art has been largely influenced by her travels. She studied at the University of Salamanca in Spain and has traveled throughout Europe, absorbing the wonderful cultures. She has also spent time exploring Latin America and the French Polynesian Islands, experiencing their rich and colorful lifestyles. Her travels have inspired her art as she is always looking for new and memorable discoveries.
Alongside being a new mother to a beautiful little girl and boy, Allison spends much of her time doing commissioned work of portraits and preparing for upcoming arts festivals. She was an adjunct art history teacher at Faulkner State Community College and is currently the marketing coordinator for Ashurst & Niemeyer Real Estate.
